Shopping Trip - 3/18/12

I shopped at all the drugstores today--CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid.

Total before coupons: $132.97 + tax = $144.39
My OOP: $19.32 + tax = $30.73, with $7 ExtraBucks, $10 UPs, and $15 P&G rebate remaining
Savings: $113.66, 79% (86% without tax)

I bought 56 items today. Purchased items include 5 boxes Kellogg's cereal, 2 bottles Welch's grape juice, 2 bottles Fuze, Knoxville News-Sentinel newspaper, 4 Olay body washes, 4 Olay facial cleansers, 2 Olay bar soaps, Schick Hydro 5 Power Select razor, 2 Revlon eye shadows, CoverGirl eye shadow, CoverGirl foundation, 15 activity pads, 6 packs Disney princess silly bands, 3 Suave deodorants, Suave Keratin conditioner, 3 Suave body washes, Got2B hair styler, and 2 Reach toothbrushes.

I ran into a few snags today, but overall it was a great trip. Here's a breakdown of each store.

Rite Aid

I had $7.25 UPs expiring TODAY. I tried to do the Olay deal. No luck so far.

Transaction # 1

Olay body wash $8.99
Olay body wash $7.49
Olay cleanser $3.99 (regularly $7.99—BOGO 50% off)
Olay cleanser $3.14 (regularly $6.29—BOGO 50% off)
Used -$7.49 FREE body wash coupon
Used -$3.74 FREE body wash coupon (THIS IS WRONG!)
Used -$3.00/2 mfr coupon
Cost: $9.38

2 Reach toothbrushes @ $2.99 = $5.98 (regularly $4.99 each)
Used -$2.00/2 mfr coupon
Cost: $3.98, earn $4 UPs (making this FREE + $0.02 profit)

Transaction # 1 total before coupons: $29.59 + tax = $32.41
-$16.23 coupons
-$7.25 UPs
My OOP: $6.11 + tax = $8.92, earned $4 UPs

Transaction # 2

I told her my coupon was not used correctly in Transaction # 1. She thought one of the body washes would be 50% off—hence the $3.74 amount. When I told her both cleansers were according to my receipt, she said, “Oh, I owe you $4 then.” So I guess she put in a post=coupon or whatever and gave me $4 back. This would’ve been fine IF she owed me $4. She actually owed me $5.24. I was so confused that I didn’t get a chance to correct her, though.

Transaction # 2 total: -$4.00

Transaction #3

Olay body wash $8.99
Olay body wash $7.49
Olay cleanser $3.99 (regularly $7.99, BOGO 50%)
Olay cleanser $3.14 (regularly $6.29, BOGO 50%)
Used -$8.99 body wash
Used -$7.49 body wash
Used -$3.00/2 cleansers

Transaction # 3 total before coupons: $23.61 + tax = $25.85
-$19.48 coupons
-$4.00 UPs from Transaction # 1
My OOP: $0.13 + tax = $2.37

Transaction # 4:

Olay bar soap 2pk $3.99
Olay bar soap 2pk $1.99 (regularly $3.99, BOGO 50%)
Used (2) -$2.00 mfr coupons

Transaction # 4 total before coupons: $5.98 + tax = $6.55
-$4.00 coupons
My OOP: $1.98 + tax = $2.55

I should have earned $10 UP—something wasn’t tracking right! It said I only spent $46 on eligible products—not true. I spent $53.20. They wouldn’t do anything about it at the store level. I have to call Customer Service tomorrow. Between the cashier messing up my body wash coupon and my UPs not printing… I was not too happy.

Rite Aid total before coupons: $59.18 + tax = $64.81
Total: $8.22 + tax = $13.84
-$4.00 cash refund
My OOP: $4.22 + tax = $9.84
Savings: $54.97, 85% (93% without tax)

It should’ve been $1.25 less because of the coupon error. And I should’ve received $10 UPs. I hope I get it straightened out with Customer Service.

Total cost for Olay items $53.20 plus tax. I used $37.71 in coupons and received $4.00 refund for coupon error. My OOP was $11.49 plus tax after coupons and refund on Transaction # 2. I should get my $10 UPs and will be able to submit for $15 Procter & Gamble rebate. That will make this a $13.51 money maker!

Savings: $55.69, 85% (92% without tax)

I have $7 Extra Bucks remaining, with an additional $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks pending. I should get $10 UPs reward after talking to Rite Aid customer service. I should also get a $15 gift card from a P&G mail-in rebate. Not shabby at all!
