Kmart Shopping Trip - 5/13/12

I just learned that Kmart doubles manufacturer coupons up to $1--yeah! It used to be up to $0.99. I know that penny doesn't make that big of a difference, but they don't generally make coupons for $0.99.

There are a lot of provisions--like your pre-coupon total must be $25 or more and you can only double 5 coupons per day. Really, it's a bit of a hassle. But if I can get some things for super cheap or free, while buying things I need (like the dog food below), I'll give it a try. I know my savings percent will not be nearly as great as my weekly drugstore trips, though.

Here's what I bought today. My total after coupons was $20.97 plus tax.

Alpo Prime Cuts dog food 47-lb bag $19.99
Used -$3.00 in-ad coupon
Cost: $16.99

2 Whiska Lickins cat treats @ $1.00 = $2.00
Used -$0.75/2 DOUBLED
Cost: $0.50 (making these $0.25 each)

2 Pepsi Next 2-liters @ $0.99 = $1.98
Used -$1.00/2 DOUBLED (adjusted to $1.98)
Cost: FREE

M&Ms snack mix $2.50
Used -$1.00 DOUBLED
Cost: $0.50

2 Purex detergents @ $2.50 = $5.00
Used (2) -$0.50 DOUBLED
Cost: $3.00 (making these $1.50 each)

Kmart total before coupons: $31.47 + tax = $33.87
-$10.50 coupons
My OOP: $20.97 + tax = $23.37
Savings: $10.50, 31% (33% without tax)

See what I mean about the savings? I would normally cringe at just 31%. I can't complain with 47-lbs of dog food, though.
